Connor's 2nd Birthday Suprise : Part I

We wanted to do something special for Connor's 2nd Birthday (which happened to be on a Saturday), so Ryan and I planned on taking him to a Safari in Winston, OR. We had the day all planned, so we had to get up a little earlier than normal, eat breakfast and get on the road. Connor had a very special breakfast on his new Elmo plate, and a bunch of Elmo balloons and regular ones mixed in. He was a very happy boy, despite having to wake up early!

It took us about 3 hours to get there, with some rest stops along the way, so it wasn't too bad. He took a nap while in the car, so that helped us. We figured if we could get him up early, and have him take a nap along the way, he would probably enjoy the Safari more : ) When we got there, we had to decide what to do first. We had the option of taking the Safari ride first (in which you drove your own car), or exploring the inside of the park, which included a petting zoo, and train ride. We opted to do the Safari first, since it took about 1 1/2 hours to drive through.

When we got out of the car, we took Connor out of his car-seat since we figured he would want to roam around in the back to get a better look at the animals. We packed everyone back in and started driving through the Safari. He only lasted about 2 minutes back there and he wanted to come up front because I think he was confused and a little scared. He ended up switching back and forth from Ryan to I, but mostly Ryan because he had the steering wheel to play with : ) Here's a cute video of Connor driving:

We saw so many animals as we drove through the park. It was really neat how some of the animals came right up to your car, and even through your window! We had an Emu come up to our car, and Ryan actually stuck his hand out and he bit him "lightly" as Ryan would say lol. Here are some other pictures of the Safari:

Stay tuned for Part II!
