It's not every day that someone hits a milestone like 30, so I wanted to do something special for Ryan's Birthday. Since we live in Portland, and can visit the mountains on one side, or the beach on the other, I decided to plan a trip to the beach. I planned the entire weekend, complete with activities and food, but didn't tell Ryan what we were doing until Friday night, right before we left. He was really happy, and surprised at that! We got there Friday night, and stayed in a gorgeous room, complete with a kitchen, ocean view and fireplace. If anyone needs a place to stay at the beach, check here :

When we got up on Saturday, I planned to go to the Seaside Aquarium first. It's just a small aquarium on the boardwalk that has a lot of fish, a GIANT octopus, and some seals you can feed. When I picked up the brochure at the Tides office, we got a free coupon for some seal food. We decided to do that first since it was right when you walked in, and I thought for sure Connor would like it. WRONG. I threw some food to the seals, and they would clap and splash you when they wanted more. As soon as they splashed Connor he cried. Ryan and I felt bad, and we came to the conclusion that he wasn't scared of the seals, but the sudden splashing. I guess that's why we spent so much time in the aquarium itself, so he didn't have to go near the seals again lol. They even had a touch tank!!
