Natural Athlete

Since I usually spend a good part of the day with Connor, Daddy likes to spend as much time with him as he can as soon as he gets home from work. For the past few months, the routine has been this: Daddy comes home, gets changed and runs to the park with Connor. Literally. Connor gets so excited when he comes home, because he knows what's coming. We try to get him out as much as possible, not just for the fresh air, but exercise as well!

Connor has taken to baseball, football and especially soccer lately. As soon as we move to the new house we're going to sign him up for toddler soccer. The playground they usually go to has a soccer field that's usually being occupied by the younger crowd and Connor always tells Daddy that he wants to be part of the team - "Daddy, I play on the team too?" Priceless! He may hold the bat like a golf club, and pick up the ball and throw it instead of kick it, but he's 2 and he's adorable :p

Growin' On Up...

Over the summer, Connor decided he wanted to learn how to swim like a big boy. We originally went out and got him a little inner tube that he could float around in, but he got tired of that, and Daddy and I had to think fast. One day while we were waiting for our table at the Rainforest Cafe, we headed over to Bass Pro and picked up a pair of floaties just for him. The next time we went in the pool, it was like we had a whole new kid. He is ALL boy. No fears, just goes. You'll see : )

Detroit Zoo

When I first heard about the Detroit Zoo, I completely assumed it was in downtown Detroit, and the odds of us going there were pretty much slim to none. WRONG. The zoo is actually a 10 minute drive from our current place in Royal Oak and it was one of the first things we did once we got to Detroit (I'm just late in getting the pictures up!) I thought it was a no-brainer to get a membership, considering Connor loves animals, and its a hop, skip and a jump from our apartment. If we can't find something to do on a nice day, we walk around the zoo, eat lunch and just enjoy the scenery. After all, it's paid for : )

Their zoo is so flippin' clean! They take pride in their animal exhibits, and the people are so nice, down to the vendors who sell the food. They have docents that talk to you about the animals and when your 2 year old is enthralled in an exhibit, you can actually learn a lot from talking to them. The only disappointment, no elephants! Connor and I were quite sad when we learned that, but once we're there and strolling around, there are several other animals that keep his attention. We love you Detroit Zoo, even though you fail us in the elephant department. And oh yeah, their playground rocks! Definitely one of the better zoos we've seen! (These pictures were taken on two different days because we wanted to take Daddy with us as well)

Squirt Park Here We Come!

Thanks to my Mom Club of Royal Oak, and Meetup Group of Troy, we discovered the Warren Squirt Par.k. It's a neat little hidden gem that I would have never found, had it not been for these lovely groups of women. It's a giant water splash pad that's about 10 minutes from the house, and FREE of charge. They have a snack bar, a large stereo system, and tons of water. We headed there one lazy weekday morning and ended up staying for about 2 hours. Needless to say, he had so much fun and was quite tuckered out by the time we got home. I think Connor was a fish in his past life!
